Would it be possible to use a different account for allwam updates? Right now it's impossible to filter them: "Sorry, Messmistress is a moderator and cannot be blocked."

Sorry guys no, I am not going to spend time, programming a way for you to block our ads. I think we should be happy that we are keeping the site on-topic and free, by use of ads.

I believe he is asking that a different user account is used for allwam for the advertising posts, so they can be blocked in the same way someone can block me and not see my advertising posts. Not that the ability to pick and choose banner advertising that can be seen.

Welcome and LOVE the handle "Messmistress." Although I've been a member of UMD a long time, I'm one who fades in and out of visiting, so I don't really know the answer to the next question. Is this the first female mod?

Not per se. Messmistress is an admin here, and the forum is already programmed to not allow blockage of any admin. But she happens to also be the one in charge of UMD advertising, so I guess it does look like a conspiracy to force you to see these horrible on-topic wam ads.
To allow you to block her would require more exceptions in the forum code. But in this case I think I'll allow everyone to use their own judgement whether to click on one of her plugs or not. They should be pretty easy to spot and avoid wasting your life by clicking them.

Maybe it wasn't intentional at first, but it's become so due to not using an obvious workaround such as a different account for Allwam posts.

You're honestly right. It wouldn't make sense for us to put effort into making it so you WON'T see our ad. Especially when you can just not click the forum post.
