So sue me... I'm a movie buff. And against my better judgment, I'll be watching the entire Oscar telecast tonight.

BUT... For those who'd prefer a "messier" awards ceremony... We're running a special on one of our classic scenes from SS55: The 33rd Annual Slappies, starring our favorite slimed blonde Amber. Not only is she the main presenter... but she's also the night's big winner!!

I spent a good chunk of time on this scene, and it actually includes clips from "real" celebs at some awards show thing-a-majig. For "realism." More importantly, highlights from past nominees--AKA our older slime and pie clips--make an appearance as well. Not a big Oscars guy either, but I bought this scene right when it came out and it is righteous. Rich did you all a favor with this.

And while we're one the subject, James Cameron can go...........ah never mind. I'll keep this a positive post!

Eh, we had some friends over, drank beer and made comments. Good times. No huge Avatar fans so we were happy to see Hurt Locker win the hardware. Tho personally I was a bigger fan of Inglourious and the two Ups (original and ...In The Air.... ).

The Amber scene is one of the few that's both a good messy skit AND a genuinely funny one in its own right. Usually I tip too far one way or the other.

I bought this one on impulse, and it's great!

I was a bit bummed to see Hurt Locker win, based on the fact that it's full of shit regarding the conduct of our troops, yet was praised for it's "realism". But since we all know the Oscar's are nonsense anyway, I guess it doesn't matter whether the American-hating director of Hurt Locker won, or the American-hating director of Avatar won. They can both just......go back to their own little worlds. And Rich, I agree, Inglorious should have swept. At least Tarantino admitted the movie was fiction.

P.S. Sorry to bring "hate" to the thread, but this has always bothered me. Had to do it. To keep it on topic here's an old pic (and I mean OLD):

I was a bigger fan of the Basterds and The Hurt Locker myself. I own those movies and would like to see Up In The Air because I could relate to the subject matter, but we will not get into that here. I saw Avatar and thought it was just a techinical marval and that is about it. I would not watch it again on the home screen. I have always liked Kathryn Bigelow's movies like Point Break, Strange Days and Near Dark.

I am really looking forward to seeing than new model getting pied. She is a real beauty.

Yep, I may unroll it before I leave town for the weekend, or after I get back. Depends how much other work I get done first...

I actually liked Hurt Locker a lot... and my friend who spent mucho time in Iraq (he's an Army sniper!!) thought it was pretty dead-on. BUT... I've often said some of the best movies are polarizing. (I know certain folks HATED IB for messing with history, even if it was straight fiction.) As with all art, you're never gonna please everyone.

At least we can all agree it was a relief that The Blind Side was not Best Picture of 2009.

It has something to do with the new Mothership system. I've already emailed Soundguy. I'll try to figure out how to get it back to the top of Page 1.

EDIT: It's back at the top of Page 1 now. Might be a slight glitch. Or user error on my part. We'll see. Anyway... apologies if it was hard to find before. It's better now!

EDIT 2: I know the DV version of SS93Scene2 is missing... That's part of the problem as well. Hopefully Soundguy will resolve everything ASAP.
