What's Google+? Is it another way for them to data harvest, or whatever the term is?

I don't know how much more data there COULD be to harvest. I imagine any extra data they get now will just be redundant LOL

In all seriousness, it's somewhere between Facebook and Twitter.

Like Facebook but with privacy in mind from the start and not just an after thought, but like Twitter in it's immediacy.


It's what I have been waiting for. Facebook so I don't have to read what people that don't understand the internet over share. Twitter to follow the shape of what's going on the world and Google+ for real time actual communication and control over who I talk with about what.

Even in it's basic beta form it's pretty impressive and very usable.

I don't trust Google with my privacy any more than I trust Facebook/Twitter, etc. The trick is to keep stuff you want to remain private off the internet, period. With that in mind, I am growing to like G+ more than the alternatives, and I think it'll get interesting once they open it to the public.

That was my position with Facebook for a long time. I just made sure that any and everything I ever posted on there was OK for absolutely everyone to know, even if I was posting it in a private message or had all my "security" settings as tight as possible. There's nothing stopping them legally from opening everything back up and putting your private information out there anyway. So my strategy was making sure that every tidbit of content that I add was okay to be public.

BUT that may not be enough. There's nothing stopping OTHER people from putting up info about you, or snapping your pictures and putting them up and tagging you. You aren't the only person who knows a good bit of private info about you, and your friends and family on FB can still put up some stuff that you'd rather not have there, even if you're not on FB.

The era of privacy is over folks.

Might as well forget FB and stick to good ol' UMD
