I might be missing something - but isn't UMD 'a way to communicate with other people who enjoy getting messy?' And isn't there a good network here?

I DO have a Facebook account - but to be honest, I really can't see why people seem to spend so much time on it.

For those of us who aren't 'out' to their friends and families as sploshers, Facebook really isn't an option for WAM networking. I really don't need my mum or my colleagues seeing what I get my rocks off to!

Splosherrob, I must disagree with you. There are many people out there with several accounts... I have 3. One is just for all my messy friends and updates, messy pics etc. So there is no one from my personal life on that account. There are thousands of alias accounts!

Agrees with Jessie... I have several too and I know many others who do.....oh and in answer to the OP, there is already a very large sploshing community on Facebook and it appears to be growing daily.

Not to be a wet blanket, but isn't multiple accounts against facebook's TOS, much as it is on UMD? I too used to have an alias account but it got shut down. What are thoughts on this?

Multi accounts in one forum that is relatively small in comparison to the world wide entity that is Facebook, I don't think you can compare the 2. If you are here on the UMD then you should be just the messy/wet person you are. Why would you need to create multiple accounts on a place like here unless you were doing something underhand?

It is really very simple logistics. Facebook is a much larger community than the UMD which is for a specific fetish, facebook has many groups and a good way of communicating with others with similar interests. And if you can do so with friends and family and then with other people who share your fetish, then it's all good.

Jessica25, I don't think messymusic was referring to your feelings about how to use Facebook. I think he was referring to the terms of service. Specifically these:

1) You will not provide any false personal information on Facebook, or create an account for anyone other than yourself without permission.

2) You will not create more than one personal profile.

Mouddoug interpreted my comment correctly. I really don't care about having multiple accounts....I certainly did so myself for a time. However, if facebook's algorithms identify the duplicate accounts, they will disable one or both or the accounts permanently, speaking from experience here.

Yeah I know...it's like, a long history of friends and connection up in smoke. Just thought I would point out that risk.

The idea of aliases on there is probably okay. But I just don't trust them. If you're not "out" already then who knows if they somehow will link your accounts together and out you unexpectedly? What if someone you know finds out it's you and friends you on the alias account and then "suggests" a whole bunch of other friends and family, plus the notice goes up on their wall? What if they take away the need for you to manually approve things such as this and you wake up one day and everybody knows? My M.O. has always been to never put shit up on Facebook that you wouldn't mind the entire world knowing someday, because they probably will. Any privacy on that site is a mere illusion.

Facebook are also nazis about posting nudity or sexual content, right? And they've been criticized for a homophobic bias in enforcing that. So while I might not have to worry about catching the gay on FB like I do here, I just think it's not a great platform for fetish-related interaction. Especially since there are plenty of others available.

I created an account for myself, but outside of using it to keep up with SLAM-W.O.W. mud wrestling events, it's essentially useless to me.

I don't use Facebook because my kids do all the time! Besides I have no interest in sharing pictures of kittens, babies etc. or playing games where I have a pretend farm. Or the time to do it.

For messy friends and other fetishes I use UMD, Splosh!, Fetlife and Flickr and they keep me very happy indeed!
