The "Friends" option here doesn't actually do much. I know some of the people on mine and others, I don't at all. I approve most people unless there is a reason why I should not since being friends is really pretty harmless.

People with trollish histories don't tend to friend me which is good. I don't want them on my friends list anyway.

I did turn down one member whose screen name suggested that he either was underage himself, or preferred his messy people to be underage. I am not comfortable with underage anything and don't want to be linked to something that sounds like it is too young to be here.

Probably, WTF likes to ask a lot of people to be his friend, and, like me, a lot of people didn't find much reason to say no.

That's what I thought when I saw him in my list and couldn't remember adding him but check this out according to WTF profile he joined 5/26/10 and yet one of my friends who hasn't been on here since 9/01/09 has him as a friend! Once again WTF?

It is/was a bug. My understanding is that WTF did the right thing and reported it.

I can't actually remember approving a friend request from WTF either, now that I think about it.

WTF, though...I've got no compelling reason to defriend him!

Yes, WTF did it as a test and told me about it immediately, although he hasn't bothered to remove all those friends yet! And a fix is on the way; it's on my to-do list somewhere. Technically, the problem is that the button on user profiles to add someone as your friend is actually a text link instead of a form button. Making everyone "click" this link is as easy as adding it in an iframe on the forum: He got the link you'd normally click to make him your friend, and put it in as the source of an iframe inside a forum post. So then everyone who viewed that post would automatically "click" that link without knowing it, requesting him as a friend.

Will be fixed soon.
