(In a previous thread a bunch of wammers expressed an interest in getting a culture of serious video reviews going, so why not start here?)
Camilyn Is the newest Pie Target. Sporting ripped jeans, a loose-fitting red tank top, jet black (dyed?) hair, and a prominent shoulder tattoo, Camilyn is a departure from the “cleaner” girl-next-door look that appears in the majority of Noise’s videos. Still, she projects a very comfortable and easy-going presence on camera. As you can see by the preview pictures, her lighter challenge did not go well for her and a barrage of pies soon followed.
She doesn’t say much in this video. She fails after the first lighter attempt, gets hit with pie after pie after pie for a few minutes, and silently closes out the video with a pose. We are treated with a few seconds after the “end” where she gives her reaction, but the moment is brief and doesn’t add much to the overall experience. In the end, we’re unsure whether she enjoyed it, hated it, would do it again, or if she even realized what has happened. The scene was that blink-and-you’ll-miss-it short.
The pies were all the same—a crust with a very thick layer of cream. A lack of “in-between” filling doesn’t create the most visually stunning pie-in-the-face video, but rest assured that the facial AND upper-body coverage is still very thorough. Thanks to near-perfect marksmanship by an unidentified female in the background, not a single pie gets wasted in this session.
The new studio is shaping up very nicely. The blue background is a simple change, but enough to convey to viewers and models alike that Noise is a professional who pays attention to all the little details that go into a high-quality WAM video. Still, the reliance on tight shots throughout the scene creates a feeling of “closed quarters” for the viewer and might not be enjoyable for fans who want to feel like they are standing back and taking in the whole scene.
One of the things Noise likes to do in his videos is the slow pan up and down the model’s body, obviously to show the full extent of destruction. Unfortunately, he tends to do these pans once or twice too often per video and this one is no exception. He may be better served to lose the pan up that opens most of his scenes. Such opens can appear awkward as a model who doesn’t feel comfortable in front of the camera will show it with her lower body posture (see: Star of previous Pie Targets scenes). Also the “panning up” open creates 3-5 seconds of dead air off the bat as you can pretty much feel the model just waiting for her cue to begin. It seems to be a “signature move” of Noise’s, but a more traditional opening shot showing the model’s face ready to go may be a better move.
Buy this scene if:
*You want to see a pretty girl with style get hit in the face with several creamy pies taking the most direct route possible
*You enjoy perfect direct hits thrown from off-camera
*You enjoy the “up close” view of a pied model
Don’t buy this scene if:
*You want to see a model show her personality in a scene
*You prefer “complete” pies that include a variety of filling
*You want time taken to let a scene develop and/or revel in aftermath
