Hello All,

Living in Canada, and thus not having access to that wonderful wam-supply store known as "Sam's Club" in the states, I've been having trouble finding bulk pudding. Thus far, I've been buying the powder packs and mixing them with milk, but the sheer costs of milk are starting to catch up with me.

First a question to my fellow Canadian/Ontario wammers: Does anyone know where I can find those large (1 gallon) cans of pudding anywhere? Costco doesn't seem to carry them, but I know the stock at Costco varies from store to store, so if anyone knows a Costco in southern Ontario which has them, please share (Same goes for bulk desert topping like Cool Whip - totally expected my Costco membership to help my stock up on the wam supplies, but to no avail. I've been forced just to buy my "normal" groceries there )

As for my our wam neighbours to the south: I'm going to be making a trip down to Ohio through Detroit/Windsor in the spring. Can anyone recommend a non-membership store from which I can purchase large cans of pudding? And most importantly, how much is a large can?


Mixing the stuff from powder isn't a problem, it's really the cost of the milk that kills me, so on a final note, if anyone knows of a bulk powder pudding mix that you mix with water, could you post some info about that! I've been looking on line here and there for restaurant suppliers who sell this stuff, but my search hasn't been that extensive yet.

Anyways all, thanks for any advice in advance - hope to have a "private" pudding event in the spring for my birthday so any help would be GREAT!

My local Sam's doesn't carry the big cans of pudding. I've only seen them in there once in the 5 years I've had my membership, and I go on a pretty much weekly basis. So, you know, call ahead.
I believe Ariel gets her pudding from GFS and since she's in Indiana, I don't think it's a stretch to expect them to have a store in Ohio. And if you can't find one of them, I don't think you're gonna find it anywhere else that isn't a membership club. That said, you can find free day passes to membership clubs pretty easily.

Oh, and I've never seen Cool Whip/other non-dairy topping in bulk. I suspect you'd have to order something like that from Sysco or another bulk wholesaler.

Hey from Atlantic canada, my experience in the restaurant business would probably be more helpful to get in touch with a whole sale provider, around where I live we get all our bulk items from a company named EDFREX, based out of Quebec somewhere, so maybe your best bet would be to look around for a wholesale supplier rather than running from store to store, or you could go to a small restaurant and ask if they would special order what ever you may need. They may charge you a bit more like as in mark up but what the hell it would get you what you need right ? Anyways, good luck hope this helps out.

Im from Michigan and we also have a GFS " Gordans Food Service" Im a few hours from canada

Long shot, but Canada has close ties with the UK. Have a look for custard powder.

If i can find UK food in in the desert of the U.S you may be able to up in the del North America.

Could you use powdered milk in place of real milk? That would certainly be cheaper.

Yea, Smart and Final is a good option if you have those. If not, I have ordered a few things in bulk from the internet using restaurant supplu or ice cream shop supply stores. You have to do a bit of searching, but you can find some good stuff. I you think finding gallons of chocolate pudding is bad, try finding gallons of hot fudge in a store!

Hey. I'm also from Atlantic Canada, but would suggest that people seek out their N/America Sysco supplier. They're the biggest restaurant distributor in the world, but also do 1 time/walk-in orders at many locations, usually in bulk, and usually have a catalog you can browse.
