So, I was out on a boat a few weekends ago with some friends and it started raining. I was thinking how boats are made for the outdoors, so they're able to get wet, so they're able to be hosed off, which means they're able vessels in which to get messy. How come we never see shoots out on the open water? (which can be private, depending on how far out you go)
With that said, CSJ, I did see your teaser clip with Marlicious in the raft out on the water and it just made me wonder more why I haven't seen it before. Would this be considered to much of a "niche" request? Ok, maybe it's just me, but I would think somebody living in a coastal state or country has to agree here.
I would love to see a big pie hit, where the splatter is seen floating in the background.

The main reason we havnt done anything on messy on the boat, is finding a good spot on the lake where you dont have people coming over to see what you are doing AND if you get something in the lake and Game and Fish thinks it is harmful ( even if it is pie crust or whip cream, they will fine your ass big time!!!! But we will still do a messy shoot on the lake when PieGirlKay and her better half make it down. But here a few pix of Melissa on the boat.

The old Messyfun video "Splatgirl" has a couple of boat scenes, one very very messy one

We're using the boat as a way to get the mud out from beneath the water, until the water level goes down. Getting the mud back into the water where it will settle to the bottom is fine, as that's where it came from in the first place. Had it been pie, it may be a different story, as it would be considered polluting to add non-naturally occurring ingredients to a lake or pond.

I'd love to see a clay fight or mud fight on a big boat, it'd be awesome, and the mud would be harmless to the eco system.

I guess I didnt consider the eco-system. But if I know my marine wildlife, the fish would be for it, the dolphins would be down, the jellyfish would join in and the mermaids would moan.
But seriously, is it illegal for that stuff to hit the water? If so, is it also illegal when people do shoots out in the woods and it gets on the ground? What would be the difference? We could just do a big chocolate shoot (brownie batter, chocolate cake batter, chocolate syrup, etc) out in the Gulf of Mexico. Even if they can prove its chocolate and not oil, we can argue that what we're doing can't possibly worsen the situation.

It's technically illegal, but most of the time unless it's a fish and game warden with a stick up his ass, they're not gonna write you a ticket for unlawful discharge unless you give them a reason to single you out.

I mean, *technically,* they can write you just for pouring a bottle of water overboard...

I remember Rob talking about that in the newsletter, or possibly the forum. The boat was rented, and Rob and his crew had rigged up a forward facing funnel attached to a hose below the waterline, so that on the way back to base the speed of the boat through the water would force water into the hose at pressure, for them to use to hose down the boat.

Except something went wrong and it didn't work! I gather the owner was somewhat surprised to see the state it came back in.

There's an absolutely fantastic scene on the boat where a girl in velvet bell-bottoms and a white top pours a large tub of "mix", which looks like an oily trifle, all over her lap and legs - drove me wild first time I saw it back in 97, still does now!
