MM, a question: didn't the UMD Video Archive used to automatically archive Youtube videos posted here, if only for premium users? That function appears to be gone, which is a shame, because it was really essential. Last time I checked (which was a while ago) there were some "dead" YT vids still accessible via the archive here.
UMD does indeed have an interface to Youtube, in which it will actually download every Youtube video that gets submitted to UMD. Then we would have the video file stored here locally if/when Youtube kills it. There are archived dead videos still in the archive. But Youtube changed how their API's work, and I believe they stopped allowing sites from doing this, but I'm still trying to connect it back up. Hopefully I'll have that going within a couple of weeks.
